It is about understanding your own emotions and hoe those can in turn influence your performance and relations to others. It is a key aspect for strong leadership, as Korn Ferry Hay Group has correlated it in studies, that leaders with strengths in self-awareness had teams with higher energy and performance. Further studies by Cornell University have indicated that self-awareness was a leading indicator of success and led to strengths in other leadership competencies.

The bottom line remains that high emotional intelligence is a leading indicator of strong leadership performance, and self-awareness is a key foundational attribute. This Four Point Friday take a deeper look at self-awareness.
